केंद्रीय कैबिनेट ने राज्य में हाई-स्पीड सड़कें बनाने का फैसला किया है. शुक्रवार को हुई कैबिनेट बैठक में खड़गपुर से मोर्गराम तक चार लेन राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग बनाने का निर्णय लिया गया. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में हुई बैठक में 231 किलोमीटर लंबी सड़क के लिए 10,247 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित करने का फैसला किया गया.
कैबिनेट बैठक के बाद प्रधानमंत्री ने खुद अपने एक्स (पूर्व में ट्विटर) हैंडल पर देश में कुल आठ हाई-स्पीड कॉरिडोर बनाने के फैसले की घोषणा की। बताया गया है कि 936 किलोमीटर की इस सड़क के लिए 50,655 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किये गये हैं. खड़गपुर-मोर्ग्राम कॉरिडोर के अलावा, इन परियोजनाओं में आगरा से ग्वालियर छह-लेन कॉरिडोर, गुजरात में थराद-अमदाबाद छह-लेन कॉरिडोर, चार-लेन अयोध्या रिंग रोड, चार-लेन रायपुर-रांची कॉरिडोर, छह शामिल हैं। -लेन कानपुर रिंग रोड, पुणे के पास चार लेन गुवाहाटी बाईपास और आठ लेन नासिक से खेर कॉरिडोर का निर्माण किया जाएगा। यह भी दावा किया गया है कि इन सड़कों के निर्माण से बड़ी मात्रा में प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष रोजगार पैदा होगा। केंद्र का दावा है कि कुल 4.42 करोड़ श्रम दिवस सृजित किये जायेंगे.
